@Cutmeloosebruce It's pretty common knowledge that items are unbalanced. In competitive matches, items above brown rarity aren't allowed. Medkits especially are extremely powerful. I'm not sure if you just didn't know this or if you just didn't care, which is surprising, considering Otz was the person who brought it to the mainstream DbD community's eyes and you're watching one of his videos. In regards to that, I don't think they should remove items, that would screw up things for a lot of people, but they should definitely re-balance them.
@ScrubDaddyThe3rd 1. The "10,000 hours in-game" statement comes from a video Otz made in regards to explaining how the game is killer sided. He justified this by saying he can get 4k's almost every match with every single killer. He proved this by making an entire video dedicated around the concept, including keeping record of his kill rate with and without perks. His feedback wasn't very relevant for the average player because Otz has an insane amount of map knowledge and game sense; for example, he was averaging a 3.15 Kill Rate when going AFK for 30 seconds and being perkless. That just isn't a skill level that anyone else is able to achieve within a reasonable amount of time. The fact that he sometimes doesn't get 4K's on stream doesn't really change anything about that. If you're curious, the video in question is titled "DBD is extremely Survivor sided" .2. Many average players struggle with gen pressure against a 4-man SWF who are even mildly effective at communicating. The thing that makes SWFing so powerful isn't the fact that the survivors individually are good, because a 4-man SWF could be totally mediocre and still be effective. The problem is that SWF's can communicate with each other, and make balanced plays around that. Even something as simple as "I'm currently in chase" is a good enough queue to do a certain play, like letting a SWF know that they can keep sitting on a Gen, for example, or simple call-outs like pointing out of a Killer has Ruin or Plaything. There's not really any way around that for an average casual player, like, at all.3. Solo Queue struggles a lot because of the above reasons. Solo Queuers can't really communicate with other players effectively and as such they can't choreograph counter-plays against S-Tier killers. I'm not really sure why you even replied to this with the statement that you made; yes it's theoretically possible for survivors to stand a chance, but it isn't a reasonable expectation that most of the SoloQ players would be able to deal with that, due to not being able to communicate with one another. What you just said is like saying "Well, there is counter play against Nurse, therefore she's a balanced killer", which is, y'know, a pretty obviously ridiculous statement to make.4. They aren't saying that "the game should be balanced around 50 hour players" (and that's a very condescending misrepresentation of what they were saying), they are saying that the game shouldn't require a huge time sink and should be more approachable for casuals and new players without being severely punished. BHVR agrees with this sentiment, which is why they're adding things like bots and anti-toxicity features into the game, soon.Basically, your statement seems to lack a lot of understanding about the average player's experiences with DbD and most of your replies just come off as purposefully argumentative, as if you didn't actually understand what they were saying and you just wanted to say that they were wrong in some way.

I love the idea of Fire Up but it could really use some better numbers compared to other scaling perks and end game perks. I wish the first gen or two done gave a higher boost while later gens give smaller ones, or maybe make the last gen done give a huge boost. Plus the image for it looks awesome.

I think Fired Up should get a buff where the total should add up to 30% with all generators complete. 1 done is 2%, then it is 4% 6% 8% and finally 10%.
I was making a build, and I had 2 perks in mind. Fire up or Brutal Strength. I looked at both, and fire up, at tier 3, max gens, gives you less than tier 3 Brutal Strength for breaking pallets. I know its like what, 18% faster for everything. But cmon, should be buffed to 5%

In all seriousness though, the hours-long videos are my favorites as I often come back to these throughout the week, and it is a very accessible way to see more of Otz as opposed to Twitch VODS. I can only see so much before they're inevitably gone. Popping into the streams is always fun, but having the DBD channel as a sort of archive and "time capsule" at a moment's notice is a neat thing.

No, but i always thought of that as a noed rework. Do that, the Last gen gives 3% so its the current noed speed, and the exposed, and make the totem active the moment they complete one gen, so it is an actual perk and not a safety net.

I get these people are fans and supporters, but that doesn’t mean he is a godly figure 😂 it’s like I said, it’s fine to give credit to others. So many survivors t bag within the exit gate or make you hit them out. I think all killers across the board if they down a survivor within the exit gate area, get that second or two to be able to pick them up just like as if Pinhead or Victor had knocked them. Prevent that survivor from crossing over the escape threshold. I think that will bring down the number of t bags or people wasting time in the end game. Not a forsure solution but I feel like it could definitely tone it down and punish those who are being toxic.
To be fair, if they are not t-bagging, it's usually just bloodpoint farming for both sides, nothing more, at least as I know it from people who taught me DBD (and yes, I'm killer only player). Just a little bit of respect. Nothing wrong with it, at least when I'm playing killer.But yeah, if they are t-bagging - it's a whole different story...

For the trapper game it had me thinking they should buff him so that when someone gets trapped outside of his radius (let say for example 40m) he should get to speed boost. The idea is to help him get to the survivor that has been trapped far away from him. The speed boost can be deactivated if he hits said survivor or any survivor (to prevent people from abusing the speed boost in chase if there is a survivor trapped). Thr speed boost can linger for 5 seconds aftwr if the survivor escapes the trap
@ChaosFromTejas Trapper as he is even with some changes can never be in the same tier you're right, which is why I made the changes in my rework idea the way I did. I believe he can be on the level of hag, or plague, I by no means was trying to make him the top killer, and don't think he could be unless you make him completely broken, I was aiming for high B tier, and middle A tier. I think my rework allows him to still play like OG trapper, while also being able to compete with high level killers.
@Ghostkiller166 I think with so many ranged/dash/teleport killers who can quickly cross the map and down people, the Trapper will never be on the same tier unless they gave him some sort of inta-down or speed powers, which I think would just ruin the idea of the trapper. His best work is when he can snowball survivors and start downing them one after another because one person made a mistake. When played correctly, he is the king of punishing bad survivor plays, such as rushing into basement for a rescue, or not checking windows before a rescue. I think he will simply never be on the same tier as the newer, faster killers, but we should focus on just making him better all around. He is definitely my favorite killer overall, but winning is painfully difficult against any survivors who just play relatively smart. So my ideas tend to lean towards punishing survivors for disarming/getting caught in traps, or giving Trapper boosts of some sort when they get caught. A speed boost if they’re out of his radius would be absolutely monumental in either getting to a trap in time, or perhaps finishing a second chase, while the trapped survivor is down due to honing stone.
@ChaosFromTejas my idea of Adrenaline Rush solves that 5% speed boost part, maybe some changes could make it better, but I didn't want to make him OP, I gave him what I felt was fair for both sides. I also like the idea of making the obsession an actual gameplay mechanic outside of just extra Bloodpoints, or it only mattering with certain perks.All of these suggestions are subject to change if it sees fit.
@Ghostkiller166 I think a better idea would just be more traps all over the map, and more traps in hand at start. Add ons that maybe gave a 5% speed boost when a trap goes off in terror radius, or when the trapper approaches someone trapped would be good. Again, his entire rework needs to be dedicated to getting him more traps easily available, and fixing his power to never be counterproductive to his own play. Right now he’s the only killer who can lose because of his own power stunning him. Typically the Trapper doesn’t have map control in terms of the entire map, but rather a lockdown of a smaller area. Unless they are just a trap-on-the-fly to break loops and catch in the open. I still think as far as Gen control, an add on to pop gens within 10-15 meters of a trap shutting would be good, triggered even if the survivor disarms it. Which forces them to leave it open
@ChaosFromTejas it will be a lot more simple in practice, I don't think there's a iteration of the current trapper that can be good personally, even if at base he gets all his traps he's still very gimmicky, and at best a C tier killer. My goal was to make him still be trapper, with some major upgrades to make him at least B tier.

About the Grim Embrace talk during the matches and how to buff or rework it i suggest my idea: For each time a survivor is hooked for the first time, Grim embrace activates. For the first survivor, gens are blocked for 5 seconds, for the 2nd 10 seconds, 3rd 15 seconds and the last 20 seconds and survivors suffer some kind of additional debuff. Numbers could obviously be adjusted but i think that would be really cool

something on the point of Grim Embrace "you played well to get it, but the survivors go into recovery mode and do other things that arent gens", makes me realize that a lot of killer perks need to synergize with other perks. Tagging it with Courlophobia and Distressing to slow down the healing or something similar seems necessary. Not big of a fan of perks that require other perks to be effective. if GE caused Broken for 20 seconds on anyone injured that might be a way to go

To the Grim Embrace suggestion from the Nurse game (suggesting to make the perk incapacitate all survivors instead of blocking all gens), I think that change, plus changing vigil to affect incapacitated as well would offer an interesting meta shift again :)

Hey Otz! What yould you think about this pig buff: Reworked Amanda's letter (No trap removal with nerfed range to compensate) + Combat straps + Medical file get base kit. This would enhance Pig's power and make unsafe pallets more unsafe + it would allow for some stealth play.

I actually like the idea of grim embrace making everyone incapacitated you hooked everyone once instead of tunneling as your reward you have 40 seconds of survivors being useless have fun
Every time I use grim embrace I either not have it trigger the whole game, it triggers when I already have a lot of pressure and it virtually does nothing, or they finish a gen while I’m in the hook animation for my final stack (mostly the last gen too). Imo, really needs buffs to encourage more people to run it as I like it’s concept but it’s still such a disappointment at the same time
It’s always funny when someone tries to be a subtle cheater, but then isn’t good enough, so they just turn on all their cheats and then try to taunt you as if they played well 😂
i think grim embrace would be better if it were able to be activated in a different way. Like otz said, when grim goes off its more in the survivors recovery period, making blocking gen useless. I think it would be better if you could activate it whenever you want but maybe nerf the time to like 30 seconds. If that is too op then maybe the next time a survivor touches a gen
I think it should incap all survivors for the duration instead of blocking gens. That would be a little more in line with the perks name, picture and method of activating. Maybe the nerf the duration by up to like 5 seconds if the incap is too strong with its current.

I like this series, will take my time to watch through this later. :)What I would suggest when seeing parts of it on Twitch and now here: Try this with someone less experienced. Like when you trained the two guys in survivor and killer gaming. Take someone who is fairly new to either the game or to playing killer and let them do this. Just curious if the numbers between this camping success you did with Bubba and the Nice-Guy-Build will change significant.It's just because I feel when facing a really good and experienced killer there is no camping (or tunnling) necessary in most cases, they get their kills (and somehow the matches are enjoyable). But lesser experienced killer are carried by camping, tunnling and often Noed and often they get success, especially those like Bubba where unhooks are nearly impossible.

What I have determined from this is that it’s all about playstyle. Perks are good if used correctly and if you make the most value out of them but knowing how to play is the game winner. If you can outsmart your opponents and use the mechanics correctly such as knowing when to tunnel someone out of the game then I’d say you’re more likely to win than lose

@danielmaster87 it was as "killer sided" as we even seen one in BHVR terms anyway at least. Survivor mains failed to realize we lost things too like how they BUTCHERED Hex Ruin. Nerfed pop goes the weasel, killed thanatophobia, and nerfed pain resonance.We lost quite a fair bit actually when u think about it. In exchange we got sped up across the board in many ways but not too significantly I notice the hit cooldown speed up combined with the lesser speed boost more than anything but that's still more than enough time for a survivor to make it to a loop.I'm glad behavior for ONCE did BASE KIT changes for killer rather than a perk band aid fixBut I fail to see why all of a sudden survivors are killing themselves on hook and DC'ing as soon as they go down.The only HUGE thing they really "lost" was press E to win Dead Hard. Which just became BETTER in many cases of you use it right. And decisive strike nerf which really didn't matter since they got off the record in exchange which is just better DS
@The Doom Slayer Exactly! They're all like, "The game is 'unplayable' for survivors now." What was it in that patch that makes them say that? The slightly better attack recovery? The slightly smaller rocket boost from getting hit? It wasn't even a killer sided patch. Survivors got tons of new meta stuff, and killers lost a ton of theirs in exchange for gen kicking perks, which have never been good.

The chain of events starting from 37:05 followed by Otz' explanation is pretty much the quintessence why Nurse in her current form should not be in the game. There is just no way to balance the game around her when she has abilities and possibilities that no other killer has in that form - exemplified by the nerf that Weskers aura reading perk will get on release... It's like you are playing 2d (at most 3d) Chess vs every other killer but against Nurse you suddenly have to play 4d Chess or just press 'W' and hope for the best and most times neither of those things will help you...
Think 2 dimensional for other killers and 3 dimensional for Nurse.
Or just not play vs a nurse. If no one plays VS nurses so they don't get any chases or anything, IE the games are super unfun for them, we'll see less and less nurses. Its obvious behavior isn't going to change them.

@Cebug I get where you are coming from when it comes her being the strongest killer in dbd but in regards to that she shouldn't be in dbd the argument still stands imo as the strongest because every other flaw that nurse has - too much uptime on her ability, too strong addons, easy proxy camping, etc. - spill over towards her ignoring basic gameplay mechanics. Sure you could make it so e.g. her charges don't refresh until after she has recuperated from a miss/hit - giving more time for survivors to make distance and prolong the chase but at least from a gameplay kind of perspective it is her ignoring 'general survivor gameplay' mechanics in dbd like pallets / loops / windows which is imo the biggest problem with nurse. You just have two different kind of games; where one is playing vs Nurse where windows / pallets / loops are mostly useless and you just go for line of sight and hold 'w' and the other is playing vs every other killer. Sure other killers have anti-loop abilities aswell but you can counteract them to some extent. But with nurse you can just mindgame and hope that the skill of the nurse player isn't too high and they therefore miss their blinks which just feels very unrewarding imo.

Fun wraith fact! Wraith actually sees blood slightly brighter in cloak without any addons or perks. It's a small feature that's been in the game since launch
I think the problem of the deathlenger game was that Otz decided at the beginning of the game, that he is going to loose.

Hey Otz! Great video as always. I wanted to ask you something. You definitely know about challenges from Steam. Some of them like Power moves and Lefd for dead are very hard to do. Can you pls consider doing a video about how to get them and other achievements?

As a survivor main that returned after a long time of not playing, it's nice to see a good killer main understand the frustration of survivors when everyone calls EVERYTHING survivor sided. I personally think at high ranks killer is a lot harder, but i also think that this often results in having very unfun games as survivor. I play alone and I'm not toxic even when I'm not that good. I understand that killers also have unfun games which make them do stuff like camping and tunneling. Sometimes they need to to win, just like survivors sometimes need to make the game unenjoyable for the killer to win. I just wish everyone could see that after getting 5 campers/tunneling killers i can see why some survivors get frustrated. Just like I understand the same for killers that experience game after game of toxicity

Crazy how many times the obsession was either dead or on the hook when grimp embrace activated, making the aura reveal useless
Ever thought of doing a nice guy build/play style with survivor? Avoid god pallets, use fun perks, don't use super strong loops?
Instead of fire up I'd use coup de grâce, it still means you want survivors to complete gen but also, you can get closer like a real stalker
You should try mister nice guy rules with really good perks and with no add on
